Do you liked baked goods and sweet treats? I know we do! Donuts, cakes, muffins, candied apples and so much more can be found at Uptown Bakery in Bellevue, Nebraska! Recently, my daughters and I had the chance to stop in and talk with Kathy, the owner, and what we found was a wonderfully kind women. Within moments of speaking with Kathy I knew that she was the kind of person that spreads joy to those around her. We had a great conversation and she was really nice to my daughters. My youngest spoke to her right away without me having to coax her so I knew from that moment that Kathy was A-Okay! Though I had been to the bakery multiple times when I used to work in Bellevue, I had never spoken to Kathy before. At least, not to my recollection. Then again, I haven’t worked in Bellevue for a few years and I can barely remember what happened a week ago.
My wife took me to Uptown on September 30th, the day after my birthday, and I did a Facebook live video from my page that prompted this second visit. Kathy saw the video and invited me back to meet her. My daughters and I were free on a Saturday morning and were more than happy to make a stop for our morning breakfast.
An apple fritter for the oldest, a chocolate covered cake donut for the youngest, and the croissant for myself that was recommended by Kathy. Oh man, do I love this place! Small Guy is big on supporting local businesses and organizations so this type of stuff is what I live to do. I’ve never had a bad experience here and you know that the product is good because they are always busy, but it’s more than the food items that keep patrons flooding into the shop. The service and friendly nature of the bakery is an added attraction that keeps people coming back for more. I know that we will be back! If you make your way over to Bellevue be sure to pop in and say hello to the good folks over a Uptown Bakery.
