Small Guy Visits Burrito Envy!

Burrito Envy & Tequila Bar

There has been a lot going on this month and it has been fun! I did want to make sure to take some time to talk about one of the exciting new restaurants that I was able to try, Burrito Envy, located in Benson. My brother-in-law just moved to that part of town and had asked for some help with transporting some of his items. I would have gladly done it for free, but he was insistent on taking me to dinner. He had me at Burrito Envy…after all, I had been hearing about this “Sushi Burrito” and I was anxious to give it a try.

After the move we stopped in at the restaurant which was a small and intimate place that was perfect for that location. There were two options of sushi (tuna or salmon) and we both ordered the salmon burrito. I also requested a strawberry margarita with sugar on the rim. Our cashier/waitress was a nice young women named Mikayla. After we ordered she brought some chips and salsa to our table as it takes time to prepare the burritos. We began to munch away on the chips and before long our meals had arrived.

Sushi Burrito

I wasn’t really sure what to expect of this sushi burrito beforehand and when the dishes were placed on the table we saw that they actually resembled burritos, but with a seaweed wrap that was reminiscent of sushi hand roll. The burrito comes with an eel sauce that was good enough that there was not even a need to use soy sauce. The first bite was good as was the rest as we devoured these sizeable meals. I thought it was good and I would definitely go back to try another item from the menu.

After we finished our meals we probably sat around for 15-20 minutes talking with Mikayla and our chef for the evening, Miriam, who had come up front as it was a bit slow. We talked about how long the restaurant had been open, the most bizarre foods that we have eaten, and politics. Haha. I don’t typically talk politics; especially with people that I don’t know, but the topic just popped up in our conversation. These ladies were easy to talk with and made for an interesting night. They were very personable and I like that about small businesses. When you stop in it’s easy to talk to the staff and get a better feel for the establishment.

Mikayla & Miriam, A.K.A. M&M

Our chat went so well that I felt comfortable enough to nickname the young ladies “M&M” and they laughed. Funny thing is, after I left a review on their Facebook page whoever responded to the post (I assumed the owner) called them by the same name. I know I have a food bias, but this is yet another place that I am happy to have visited! If you have a chance I recommend stopping in and saying hello to M&M or anyone else that may be working.
