4th of July with Small Guy

Happy 4th of July! First, I would like to say thank you to all the men and women that serve to allow us to enjoy our many freedoms! For our Holiday we headed out to Hastings, Nebraska to be with my in-laws. Every year they take our daughters for a week during the summer and this year we decided that this would be the perfect time. While we were there we made sure to enjoy some great food and attended a Children’s Parade Event organized by the YWCA of Adam’s County. To see the video of the parade click here.

At the event there was food, beverages, shaved ice and free games. My wife is from Hastings and though we’ve been married for almost 12 years we have never gone out to a 4th of July celebration. This was pretty cool as I don’t believe that I have ever attended a parade with only kids. I loved that people brought their dogs out with festive collars and leashes. My daughters enjoyed the parade and being able to play a couple of games while we were there.

Tropical Sno Hastings was probably the highlight for me! I had been craving some since the end of summer last year when we grabbed some on our way out of town. I had previously commented on a handful of posts on Tropical Sno’s Instagram page saying that I was excited to come back to Hastings and that I would be making a point to find them while we were in town. We were able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by finding them at the event. Funny thing is, when I posted on Instagram I didn’t know who was responding and to my surprise when we were walking by the Tropical Sno table I hear, “Small Guy Promotions, I recognize you!” It was Dan Sheehy, the owner of the business. I was caught of guard a little, but it was an awesome feeling. I had never met Dan before and after that I found that my wife and in-laws know him. Hastings is not a huge town so that wasn’t too much of a surprise. We introduced ourselves and spoke briefly before we moved on to check out what was going on. We told Dan that we would stop back by shortly. Want to see what flavor I went with? Watch Now!

Now, lets talk about some of that great food that we enjoyed. My father-in-law really wanted to give Burger Bombs a try while we were there and of course that was perfectly fine with all of us. These bad boys were made with a hallowed out jalapeno pepper stuffed with cream cheese and cheddar. Then the ground beef was formed around that and blanketed with bacon. MMM…so good! There were also some stellar ribs accompanied by a teriyaki vegetable medley of corn on the cob, asparagus, miniature potatoes, onions, orange peppers and zucchini. Believe me when I tell you that we ate well and the best part was that there was enough for leftovers the next day. Thanks, Dad! We appreciate all of your efforts in keeping us well fed.

There you have it, 4th of July with Small Guy. Ha, that rhymed. I hope that you and yours enjoyed the holiday as well. As always, thank you for taking a few minutes to stay connected.

Have a great day,

Small Guy Promotions
